When people think about successful businesses using cutting-edge technology they tend to think about America and specifically Silicon Valley.
However, while the US may be home to many such companies, there’s one sector where all of the main players are in the UK. And that’s the online gambling and gaming business. Whilst its customers may be based all around the world, the industry is booming and bringing plenty of benefits back to British shores. For example, the industry is creating many new flexible jobs that suit people’s modern lives – such as chat and gaming room moderation and sophisticated software engineering.
The success of the industry is sometimes overlooked because online gaming and gambling operators such as our own company Cashcade are very new. We only began life in 2000, which when compared to some of the major traditional companies such as Ladbrokes, established in 1886, makes us very much the new kids on the block.
However, while we may be relatively small, we are growing quickly by taking advantage of trends such as growing broadband penetration. And thanks to the UK regulators long-standing support of responsible gambling organisations, we believe that growth is set to continue.
Through this blog we will be offering people a peek behind the scenes of the online gambling and gaming business. We will not only be commenting on the marketplace, but also explaining a little more about what makes our industry tick.
And it won’t all be about Cashcade. We hope to be joined on the blog by others industry players to discuss and showcase a UK industry that is online, booming and British!
