Foxy – Do You Love Him Or Hate Him?

May 27, 2009

By Simon Collins, Director, Cashcade Ltd.

We were delighted here at Foxy Towers when Marketing Magazine reported that the Foxy Bingo brand was top of the pops in its Adwatch column, an ongoing assessment of the best recognised brands in the UK. But just as interesting for us is seeing regular people around the country picking up on the Foxy brand and writing about it on Twitter and other social media.

love-or-hate-twitter

Judging from some of the ‘tweets’ about Foxy, there might be a touch of the marmite ‘love-it-or-hate-it’ quality to our favourite Fox.  For example, Hazel from Evesham in Worcestershire revealed in one tweet that, “I have a thing about the fox in the Foxy Bingo ads.  Think he’s quite sexy. Am I weird?”.  No, we don’t think so Hazel!  And Jenny Andrews from Essex let drop on Twitter that, “it feels wrong but I quite fancy the Foxy Bingo fox. Ohh funky town…”.  Don’t feel bad Jenny!

However, others aren’t feeling the love when it comes to the Foxster. LianneJ87 from Cardiff, says she, “really isn’t keen on the Foxy Bingo fox”.  Whereas ‘Colak’ tweets he wants to, “tear his ears off”.  Ouch!  Then there’s…

…Nina Mack from Manchester, who says, “Foxy bingo, now there’s a bad ad if ever I saw one.” Oh well, you can’t please them all.  While Coops, the TV reviewer over at MSN writes that she has a, “hate-hate” relationship with Foxy – although she seems to know a lot about him!  Plenty of Coops’ readers disagreed though and came to the defence of our great bingo leader, including Elizabeth Jackson who left a cheeky comment, “Kisses from me to you Foxy”.

And then there are the ‘unexpected’ tweets. Alasdair MacDonald (aka wide_receiver) from Winchester twitters, “People have said I remind them of the fox off of the Foxy bingo adverts. Can’t see it myself.” We’d like to check out the resemblance for ourselves Alasdair!  Martin Wake from London sounds pleased that Foxy is helping to bring, “furries into the mainstream”.  Whereas PortiaDaCosta from Yorkshire, tweets that, “I’m not into shifters, but somehow, I find Foxy, of the Foxy Bingo ads, strangely compelling. Is that wrong?”.  Whatever floats your boat we say Portia!

We love to see people chatting about the country’s favourite Fox because, above all, we are pleased that he is being noticed and are sufficiently moved to let their feelings known – one way or the other!

But of course, as well as being great fun, we hope that people think of Foxy as a brand name that they can enjoy and trust.  So we really like to read Tweets like the one from Barbara Brown, “I’m playing on foxy bingo, its my fav pastime and I tend to win a lot so I’m not complaining!!!!!”.  Or Claire Warren who Twitters, “Just joined Foxy Bingo and have quadrupled my money. Result!”.  Go Claire!  Or Simon Cochrane from Warrington who says Foxy brightens up his day and has added a photo to prove it!

Thanks for the Foxy feedback people. Keep it coming!
